Visible International Calling: What Each Plan Covers (and When to Upgrade)

Yes, you can call abroad on Visible. But what it costs, and whether the call goes through at all, depends on which of Visible’s three plans you’re on. That’s what makes Visible international calling so confusing.

The short version: the Visible and Visible+ plans only call Canada and Mexico from the US. Visible+ Pro adds 500 minutes a month to 85 more countries. There’s no pay-per-minute option for anywhere else.

This guide covers what each plan includes, what happens when you travel, and whether upgrading to Pro is worth it just for the calls. I haven’t used Visible myself, so everything here comes from Visible’s own plan and help pages, checked in October 2026, with sources linked.

Part 1: Calling other countries from the US

What each Visible plan includes

Visible runs on Verizon’s network and sells three plans, all with taxes and fees included. Here’s what each one does for international calls:

These are regular prices. Visible often runs promo codes (Visible+ was $30/month with one when I checked), and base Visible also covers Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. Plan details verified in October 2026. Visible changes its plans often, so check Visible’s plans page before you switch.

Two things trip people up.

Visible+ no longer includes 30 countries. You’ll see this claimed in a lot of places, including Google’s AI summary. It only applies to Visible+ plans bought on or before 31 March 2025, and Visible’s help page still has an outdated section mentioning it. If you joined after that date, Visible+ only calls Canada and Mexico.

There’s no pay-as-you-go fallback. On Visible and Visible+, a call to the UK or India isn’t charged at a per-minute rate. It just doesn’t go through. Visible’s own help page suggests using a third-party app instead.

Which 85 countries does Visible+ Pro cover?

Visible doesn’t publish the list. It isn’t on the plans page or the international help page. The only way to find out whether your country is included is to ask Visible’s support team before you upgrade, ideally over chat so you have a record of the answer.

The 500 minutes cover both mobiles and landlines. Once they’re used up, calls to those countries are blocked until your next billing cycle starts. There’s no overage charge. That last part comes from a Visible representative answering customers on Reddit, not from Visible’s help pages.

How to dial internationally on Visible

Dial 011, then the country code, then the number. On a mobile you can use + instead of 011. Canada works like a US call: just dial the 10-digit number. For the full walkthrough, see our guide on how to make international calls.

What “international dialing is not included with your service” means

If you hear this recording (Visible customers often call it Announcement 906), your plan doesn’t cover that call. Restarting your phone or resetting your network settings won’t fix it.

You’ll hear it if:

• you’re on Visible or Visible+ and calling anywhere outside Canada and Mexico
• you’re on Visible+ Pro and calling a country that isn’t one of the 85
• you’re on Pro and you’ve used your 500 minutes for the month

Your options are to contact Visible support, upgrade to Pro, or use a separate calling service.

Part 2: Using Visible while you’re abroad

Using your phone while you’re abroad is a separate thing on Visible, handled by Global Pass.

How Global Pass works

Global Pass is Visible’s version of roaming. It’s available on all three plans. Each pass gives you 24 hours of unlimited talk and text, plus 2GB of high-speed data (after that, speeds drop to 3G), in more than 140 countries.

Unused free days can be banked, up to 12 at a time. On annual plans, Visible+ gets 12 days and Pro gets 24 up front. Pricing verified October 2026.

While a pass is active, calls to local numbers in the country you’re in and calls back to the US cost nothing extra. Visible’s help page doesn’t mention calling a third country, but according to a Visible representative on Reddit, calls to other Global Pass countries are included too (calling the UK while you’re in France, for example).

To turn it on, open the Visible app, go to Account Overview, tap Global Pass and select Enable. You need autopay switched on.

When the $10 day actually starts

The 24 hours start the moment your phone connects to a foreign network. That includes background data from apps, not just calls and texts. When a pass ends, the next connection starts another paid day. If you cross into a second country on the same day, that starts a new pass too.

To stay in control, keep airplane mode on until you actually need it, or switch Global Pass off in the app.

Some phones can’t roam on Visible at all, including several ZTE, Orbic, TCL and Visible-branded models. Check the list on the Global Pass page before you travel.

Is Global Pass good value?

For a day or two, it’s simple. For a longer trip, it adds up fast. Two weeks on Global Pass is $140 on the base plan, or $120 on Pro after the two free days, and you’re still limited to 2GB of fast data a day.

The honest exception: if people need to reach you on your US number while you’re away, Global Pass does that. ZippCall only makes outgoing calls, so it won’t help with incoming ones.

Wi-Fi calling abroad

Wi-Fi calling is free on Visible, and Wi-Fi calls to US numbers don’t cost extra. But a Wi-Fi call to a non-US number counts as an international call. On Visible and Visible+, that means it’s blocked, just as it would be from home.

So if you’re in a hotel in Spain and want to call a restaurant down the road, a calling app that works over Wi-Fi gets around that. ZippCall works from a browser or the app on any Wi-Fi connection. Our Wi-Fi calling international guide has more.

Is Visible+ Pro worth it just for international calling?

Here’s the maths. Upgrading from Visible+ to Pro costs $10 a month. Upgrading from the base Visible plan costs $20 a month.

These are “from” rates, checked October 2026. The exact rate for the number you’re calling shows in the app before you dial. See ZippCall’s rates by country for the latest.

For the UK, India, Germany or Brazil, the $10 upgrade from Visible+ buys exactly the 500 minutes Pro gives you. So on calls alone, Pro only breaks even if you use every one of those minutes, every month, and your country is on Visible’s unpublished list.

Most people don’t call that much. An hour a month to the UK costs $1.20 on ZippCall, against an extra $10 to $20 a month for Pro.

The Philippines is the exception. At $0.28/min, 500 minutes would cost $140 on ZippCall. If the Philippines is one of Pro’s 85 countries and you call there a lot, Pro is much better value. Ask Visible support first.

So if you’d use the whole Pro package (premium data, 4K streaming, a smartwatch line included, two Global Pass days a month), the international minutes are a good bonus and it’s a no-brainer. If you’d only be upgrading for the calls, it rarely adds up.

If your country isn’t covered, or you only call occasionally

You don’t need to change your Visible plan to call abroad. Here are the options:

ZippCall. Pay-as-you-go calls to mobiles and landlines in 200+ countries, from a browser or the iOS and Android apps. No subscription, and credits don’t expire. The person you’re calling answers their normal phone. It only makes outgoing calls.

WhatsApp or FaceTime. Free over Wi-Fi or data, but only if the other person has the same app, and neither can call landlines. Our free international calling apps guide compares the options.

Rebtel. Another pay-as-you-go service. Its rates are close to ZippCall’s on major routes ($0.02/min to the UK, $0.024/min to India) and lower to the Philippines ($0.159/min to mobiles). Google Voice. Gives US users a free US number, with per-minute international rates from $0.01/min to the UK and $0.02/min to India. You need an existing US phone number to sign up. See our Google Voice comparison for how it stacks up.

A local SIM or eSIM. For travel, this is usually the cheapest way to get data. Your phone needs to be unlocked.

The bottom line

Yes, you can call abroad on Visible. But only Visible+ Pro calls beyond Canada and Mexico, and Visible won’t tell you which 85 countries are on the list.

If you’d use the whole Pro package, it’s a no-brainer. If you just make the odd call abroad, keep your cheap Visible plan and top up ZippCall. You can check the rate to your country on ZippCall’s rates page.
